Average miles traveled per person per day in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Travel in the US fell during the pandemic over the last year. However, travel is back to above pre-pandemic levels from 2019. It is projected to continue growing. In 2019 the average daily miles traveled for a person was 23.4 miles per day, while in April of 2021 the average miles traveled was 23.9. Compared to just 16 miles traveled per day in April of 2020, it has increased almost 50% over the past year. People are back to daily traveling and the amount every day is projected to continue growing above pre-pandemic levels.
